The Celebrity Revolution

Celebrity cruises have recently announced a massive $500 million revitalisation of their whole fleet which is to be called ” The Celebrity Revolution.”  I love Celebrity cruises and think the ships are great, with maybe the exception of the Constellation which i think is in need of a bit of TLC!  I think it is obvious that the Edge has been a major game player in the decision behind this, not forgetting the Flora. Maybe it has woken the powers to be up a bit and now they want to add all these great features to the other ships – you certainly can’t knock them for that can you!

The Millennium will be the first ship to receive the “works” next year with the others following suit, right up till 2023.  Of course the money for Celebrity is with the fabulous suites, so Celebrity have famous designer Kelly Hoppen back (she did work previously on the Edge) to inject some of her work on the interiors such as her signature styles,  subtle, coordinated fusion of East meets West. (that sounds posh!)  Kelly will be working on the Solstice, Eclipse, Equinox, Silhouette and Reflection.

One of the fab features on the Edge is the “retreat” which is an exclusive sanctuary for Suite Class guests, this is now going to be on all ships, again designed by Kelly Hoppen.

Fear not though, If you can’t go for a suite you will still be able to experience the overhaul.  Cabins on the  Millennium, Constellation, Infinity, and Summit will have a bit of a redesign by a design firm.

It is not just the cabins and suites though that is getting a revamp. The speciality restaurant Qsine will be added across the fleet and completely renovated. The Ocean view cafe will be redesigned and the main restaurants will get a “touch up ” too.

Wow, a lot of money spent, it certainly sounds worth it though. Hats off to Celebrity to do this in my humble opinion. There is a lot of competition out there and no you can not rest on your laurels.

Will it all be worth it? Guess the proof is in the pudding.
