Make Your Cruise Holiday Even Better!

Can you really make your cruise holiday even better? I think you can.  Just think, you are planning your cruise, got the ship and itinerary you want which is all fantastic but if you fly to the destination the ship sails from you don’t get to see anything else, apart from the ports of call that is! So, why not do a pre or post cruise stay?

One of the best things about a cruise is seeing all the different destinations but perhaps one of the worst things is you don’t get enough time to see everything.  A pre or post cruise stay  is really brilliant and I think a great way to enhance your cruise.  If you are cruising from the States for example, many people will automatically add 1 extra pre cruise stay simply because the flights do not connect with the departure time of the cruise. If you are travelling from Miami then stay 1 extra night, take in the beach or a bit of shopping or look at those fabulous art deco buildings. San Francisco  is another city which is worth spending that extra night in as you can visit Alcatraz, Chinatown or if you have another night maybe go on the train upto the wine region – beautiful.  If it is Los Angeles you are cruising from, stay in Santa Monica as so much nicer! Let me not forget Boston and New York – which goes without saying!

The Rocky Mountaineer is perhaps the most popular pre or post cruise stay associated with a cruise from Western Canada but if you are sailing from the East coast, do try and take in Quebec or Montreal as they are really beautiful cities to visit.

Sailing from Europe is a lot easier of course. Venice, Barcelona, Rome are perhaps the most popular pre/post cruise stays however there are a few people who stay in Copenhagen if taking a Baltic cruise or Athens if the cruise starts from there. If you do a Douro river cruise, I would 100% recommend you to stay in Lisbon as she is one beautiful city.

If we go even further afield then try out, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong or even Shanghai. Australia and New Zealand is a bit different as you would of course be spending time there. Sydney and Auckland being the most popular but don’t forget with these countries you can really spread your wings and include some great destinations with your cruise such as the gold coast in Australia, Barrier Reef,  Ayers Rock, Fjords national park, Queenstown etc etc!

Lastly the Caribbean is a bit different but for me if my cruise is departing from Barbados I would do 1 extra night there. The only place for me I would not bother with is San Juan – not my favourite place in the Caribbean plus the flights are not great!

If you do decide to try this, we can book your hotels, all transfers and any attractions so worth asking us! If you want any information, just shout.

Till next time x
