Are You Following The Trend?

I read an interesting article the other day about the destinations which are currently the most popular ones to go to on a cruise, perhaps these are on your bucket list or you have already been.

The Norwegian Fjords are on the list. This does not surprise me as is a fantastic cruise to do.  Most people in the UK of course go from a UK port.  The second one is the Galapagos Islands.  This destination is really becoming more and more popular each year.  This cruise can be more on the costly side but well worth the money if you have it!

Not surprisingly the Mekong is very popular. In fact river cruising is coming on in strength and strength and everyone wants to go to this destination. So many alternatives too such as a stay in Vietnam or Cambodia, this one is 100% on my bucket list!  Japan is another destination which is really popular. You can just visit Japan or you can also visit such places as South Korea.  It is a long way to fly too so again a pre or post cruise stay is what most people want to do.

Back to river cruising again and this time it is the Ganges which is popular. Again this can be combined with say a Golden Triangle tour of some kind. Worth mentioning though that you do have to be wary of low water levels in the Ganges.  Low water levels can also cause problems in the main European rivers as I am sure some of you may have experienced.  The Rhine is another destination which is on the up. On a Rhine cruise you can travel from the Netherlands all the way to Switzerland and see such beautiful “chocolate box” scenery – perfect.

The Caribbean is always popular and rightly so should be in this list but also the transatlantic cruises are actually making a bit of a come back, It could be the crossing from New York to the UK (or the other way!) or it could be to sail from the Caribbean or the States back home. Something a bit different.

The Antarctic, now this I think would be something else. More remote destinations for you to visit and of course smaller ships . This area I would say is one of the most requested destinations especially by people who perhaps have been everywhere else!

Last on the list and of course we could not forget her is the good old Mediterranean. A great destination and very diverse from the “usual” Spanish places to Italy and Greece.  A huge variety of different cruise lines to choose from and if your lucky you can fly from your local airport.

I have to admit I was surprised that the Panama Canal was not mentioned or the Canadian coast line, Iceland which is really popular, and even round the UK.  Also worth mentioning that in the cruising world it is not just all about us Brits, there are many nationalities who cruise. Biggest spenders at the moment the Chinese, Russians and then of course USA, Canada and Australia/New Zealand.

If one of these is your top choice or there is anything you would like to know, just shout, you know where I am!

Till next time x
