WOW 10 years old already !!!

So which ship is it that is due to have a wonderful makeover after just 10 years in the RCCL Fleet ???

The Oasis of the seas is to have this honour. After launching back in 2008, she was considered back then to be the biggest ship on the ocean and set a new record capacity of 6,000 passengers. But already RCCL wants to give her the once (or maybe twice) over to bring her up to date with the rest of the fleet. She is now due a refit costing up to $165,000,000 dollars, (that is a lot of Naughts !!) She will be launching November 2019 from the new cruise terminal in Miami.

She will then have the tallest dry slide at sea spanning 10 decks in height – THE ULTIMATE ABYSS, with the 3 perfect storm, waterslides, the pool area will be amazing .. (typhoon, Cyclone and Supercell), Not sure I would have named them after storms that can disrupt the cruises lol x

The new Pool area will have sunbeds, swing beds and hammocks available aplenty, The lime and Coconuts bar will be there for your convenience and so much more for all ages….

For the little ones, Splashaway bay: splash pools, drenching buckets x 2 and mini slides all to keep the little ones happy. I think that’s so the parents can try out the hot tub or even the flow rider, there will be 2 after all.

For big Kids the laser tag, called Clash to battle for the claim of crystal city. Mission escape room set in 1973 and you must solve problems to be released. The escape room might be fun to try. (book for these as they get busy !)

The now signature RCCL sports bar will be there with over 80 large screens TV,s in the Playmakers Sports Bar and Arcade, will be making an appearance once the refit is complete.

The most important is lots of choice for us foodies, all the usual restaurants plus some extras that will make you need extra size clothing for the end of the cruise for sure! The first ever Port side barbeque on RCCL ships, the classic beef eatery with pulled pork, ribs etc or why not try the Mexican grab and go, tacos, burritos etc. Sugar beach for those with a sweet tooth, 220 different candies with a new walkup Icecream window.

Entertainment:

Spotlight Karaoke, with a stage and then 2 rooms for a bit of privacy while you sing your heart out. There will be a brand new Music Hall with Cover bands and a large dance floor for busting your moves on.

The kid’s clubs is having a complete overhaul with secret entrance for the teens club. Nurseries are returning to RCCL as well, with brand new tech to impress the youngsters. from 3-19 yrs.

As I have seen the robotics bar on Anthem, I am excited to say it will be added to Oasis in the refit. it’s a fantastic thing to watch.

So, all in all, you might be thinking where is all the money going, I am sure you will be able to tell once she is here. She will be sailing out of Miami on 7-night itineraries throughout the winter for the eastern and western Caribbean, then moving to New Jersey, where she will cruise from New York to the Bahamas.
