Why more young people are going cruising

Cruising is for old people I hear you say….. Well not anymore

Over My last 12 years in the travel industry I have noticed a massive shift in the people that are cruising. Today I want to take a look at why most cruises are great for Families and Younger customer.

Multi Destinations. If you are out of college and you want to take a gap year what better way to go travelling in style. As cruising is becoming cheaper you can see 14 different destinations in 14 days. The good thing is you don’t have to stay in hostels. Yes you will probably pay more upfront however as it includes all your food and entertainment you can see why more and more people are opting for this option.

Kids Clubs. Royal Caribbean offer the  Oasis and Allure of the seas with 28,700 square feet per ship dedicated to children’s facilities. The top-deck hub includes play spaces for the different age groups, a nursery for babies and toddlers, hangouts for teens and tweens, a video arcade, a science lab and a theater. Partnerships with Crayola and Fisher-Price keep the little ones happy, while DJ classes and plenty of video games appeal to the hard-to-please teen set. Parents will receive a tracker so you can see exactly where their child is on board.

Party animals. MSC Cruises is a Mediterranean-based cruise line with global ambitions. Its Miami-based ship, Divina, is a byword for partying with passengers up till all hours enjoying the numerous nightclubs and bars onboard in the warm Caribbean nights. Closer to home its newest megaship MSC Meraviglia, which launched in June features an 80m-long, double-height promenade packed with bars and clubs, as well as a promenade party at midnight to which everyone — including kids — are invited. Meraviglia also has the world’s first Cirque du Soleil at Sea. Every cruise also features a White Hot Party, which takes place round the pool deck until the early hours. Daytime fun on all the ships is a mixture of fun-packed pool games, group fitness classes and hairy chest contests.

As you can see there is plenty to do for for all ages. Maybe now is the right time to start thinking about your first cruise.
