Dubai. If its good enough for the queen its good enough for me.

Cunard has confirmed that the long awaited opening of former Cunard flagship QE2 as a floating hotel in Dubai is expected Wednesday 18th April. 10 years after it was purchased by a private equity firm in Dubai it is finally time to open to the general public.

The website states: “Docked permanently at Mina Rashid, she has been lovingly restored to her former glory – revitalized with all the latest in smart technology.

I have been to Dubai 5 times myself and every time I go it completely changes and gets bigger and better. With more attractions that will appeal to all ages. Today I wanted to talk about why I think everybody should take a trip to Dubai at least once in the lifetime if not more.

  • Short flight times. You can fly direct from all over the Uk for 6.5 hours. You can fly with Virgin British airways and Emirates direct. These are all Scheduled airlines and will give you more comfort than some of the short haul charter flights.
  • Year round sunshine. I think Dubai is the shortest distance from the uk where you can almost Guarantee sun all year round. I have been myself in April August (Maybe a little hot) and December and each time I have been the sun has been out in full force
  • Burj Khalifa and Burj Al arab. The Khalifa is the tallest building in the world and will give you full panoramic views of Dubai. The Al arab i the only 6 star hotel in the world.
  • Atlantis the Palm. This is a great hotel for the whole family. It has an on site waterpark and aquarium. As well as that you can swim with dolphins in there on site pool
  • Ski Dubai. Yes that’s right it has its own indoor ski slope with real snow.

As I say Dubai is the sort of place that you can do anything you want from beach stays to city breaks. Shopping in the biggest shopping centre in the world to Ice skating in an olympic size rink. To top it off it is now home to the Qe2, One of the most famous ships ever to be built.

Many cruise ships have dubai as a port that you can embark from. If you do decide to do this I would highly recommend spending a few days in Dubai before departing on your Journey.

Has anybody been to Dubai before? Do you agree with me? Is there anything that would put you off from going to Dubai.
