My amazing day on a Crystal ship…..

Over the past year I have been lucky enough to see a few Luxury ships, and was fortunate enough to sail on one in November last year.  When an opportunity came up for a ship visit on the Crystal Serenity I jumped at the chance.

The ship was in Dover on the 24th May, so we decided to catch the early morning train from Warwick Parkway to Dover.  It was a glorious sunny day (which is unusual at the moment), and we arrived in sunny Dover at 0900.  A very easy and short taxi ride (costing about £7) took us direct to the terminal where the ship was docked.  After a short wait, while the ship cleared customs we were taken onboard.

We were taken straight into the Galaxy lounge for a drink and an informal chat. I was surprised at how spacious the lounge was, it soon came apparent that the ship really is large for the amount of passengers she carries.  The ship holds around 900 passengers, usually you find that ships of her size will carry about 1500 passengers.  After a cup of tea we took a tour of the ship.  She really is beautiful, all of the suites were decorated very tastefully, with marble bathrooms, walk-in wardrobes and a small seating area.  We were taken to see the Penthouse suite down to the deluxe staterooms.  I really couldn’t fault any of the cabins, the deluxe staterooms were still a good size with all the amenities you would expect in a 6 star ship.

A few photos I took of the suites.  Hopefully it will show you have they are tastefully furnished.

The sushi bar and Silk Road restaurant looked lovely, certainly if I get the chance to sail on her then this is a must for me.  All the public areas were decorated beautifully and of course very spacious.  I loved the colours of the cushions on the loungers out on deck, nice bright orange and brown.  She has a fantastic fitness centre, and a lovely Crystal spa area.

We were then taken to the Crystal dining room where we were served a lovely 4- course dinner.  The soup was mushroom and I don’t think I have tasted soup as divine as this, everyone on the table agreed, we didn’t want it to end!

I really did like the ship and would love to sample a little cruise on her to really appreciate all that she has to offer.  Crystal are now giving you the opportunity to do just this.  They have crafted a selection of 12 shorter voyages of 5,6, 7 and 8 night durations on selected mediterranean sailings.
