POLLY PARROT, GRANDCHILDREN and THREE QUEENS!!!

If you’ve been reading any of the travel press, or even the national press recently, you couldn’t fail to have noticed that there has been much talk about Cunard Line…   and for good reason.

This year is Cunard Lines’ 175th anniversary and to celebrate being at the forefront of ocean travel, for such a long period in time, Cunard Line has unveiled a brand-new animated timeline that takes viewers on a journey through the shipping lines’ most iconic moments, all in around two minutes!!!

I mentioned in my previous blog about a very special event that takes place on Monday 25th May this year. In Liverpool, on that date, all three Cunard ships – Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, and Queen Victoria – will meet to salute the city that will forever be part of its history. You may not be aware of it but Liverpool was Cunard’s home for 127 years. Get yourself there if you can and experience, firsthand, history in the making, an event you’ll be able to tell your grandchildren about in years to come.

Talking of grandchildren…    reminds me of a funny story. Not so long ago, I was talking to a regular client of mine about a Cunard Transatlantic crossing on Queen Mary (this is one of those “must do” trips for anyone who cruises),

when I realised that he appeared to be quite distracted on the call. I asked him if he had the grandchildren with him because the noise to me honestly sounded like little children trying to attract the attention of grandpa.

“We don’t have grandchildren” he responded. “That’s Thomas, my two year old Sun Conure” (a species of parrot). Whenever I’m talking on the phone, he has this terrible habit of trying to interfere with the call, because he doesn’t like being ignored, and he’s very loud when he’s chattering in the background!!!
