Private Island

MSC have announced that they will have their own private island called Ocean Cay and they say it will give guests a ‘ticket to paradise’, the island will be just 20 miles of the coast of the Bahamas and around 65 miles from Miami and will be ready for around November 2019.

All MSC cruises sailing the Caribbean will call at Ocean Cay and because it is so close to Miami it will give guests the chance to stay there until late in the evening.

Here is a snapshot of some of the things on the island –

  • Six beaches, with separate areas for different guests like families, Yacht Club or Aurea Spa passengers, and one for crew.
  • Lectures on the coral life around the island
  • Movies under the stars
  • Buffet restaurant and food carts offering casual street foods
  • Activities like snorkeling, beach volley ball
  • Souvenir shops
  • Deck chairs and some activities will be included in the cruise cost
  • Cocktails, private cabanas, WiFi and Scuba diving are some of the things that would be payable extra
  • There will also be a second island that can be booked out privately for around 30-40 guests if you want something extra special

Guests can pre book packages through the MSC app and more information and prices are yet to be revealed,  but expected to be added to the website at the end of the month.

I think this sounds brilliant and i would love to go if i did an MSC Caribbean cruise, would you? Have you been to a private island before…what did you think?
