Not so Formal on a Formal night

Now, most people expect to make an effort and dress up when it comes to a Formal night on a Cruise. Well I have to say I was very disappointed recently on Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas. I kid you not I was the only one in a Tuxedo and I felt then that I was over dressed….. on a Formal evening!

I thik the Brits actually make an effort on these occasions but I have to say the Americans are quite scruffy. Some even wore shorts and baseball caps. I personally think that a formal evening should be just that and that cruise lines should refuse entry to those who don’t want to dress up. Other dining options are available like the Windjammer buffet if you don’t understand formal. I’ve been on a Cruise before and didn’t want to dress up so I made alternative arrangements to eat else where.  Ok some wore a shirt and tie but isn’t that smart casual for table service anyway? A real disappointment for effort on the only Captains gala meal.

Apart from that, it was a nice little mini cruise. I’d done this sailing before and think for a few days around the Bahamas whilst in Florida you can’t go wrong. Though as a tip I would recommend the 4 Night trip over the 3 night as you clear customs in Miami keys as appose to Miami on a Monday morning when everyone needs to be somewhere and all have the same idea of keeping your own luggage. The que gets very long and with only a few staff on they’re not the quickest to see you get through.
