How To Have A Smooth Stress-Free Embarkation Day

How many of you get stressed on the day you set off on your cruise?  Do you feel unprepared?  Do you have a nagging feeling you have forgotten something?

Well do not worry I am here to help!  Here is an ultimate guide to having a smooth stress-free embarkation day.  After reading this you will think to yourself “What was all the panic about!”

Hotel Stop

Sometimes we have a long way to travel to the port our cruise sets sail from.  We will worry about delays in traffic and missing the ship so we get ourselves worked up.

I would recommend booking a hotel overnight near the port before your cruise so you can relax and have a good night’s sleep knowing you are close to your ship.

You can have a nice leisurely breakfast before making the short journey to the port.  Some hotels are in walking distance so you can leave your car at the hotel for the duration of the cruise.  Another plus is you can be one of the first on board.

Organisation

Sometimes you have weeks or months until your next cruise but there is still a chance you may turn up unprepared.  You may book far in advance but before you know it it’s time to go.

My recommendation is have all of your travel documents organised and ready.  This will help the embarkation process go smoothly and it is one less worry knowing you can put your hands on these straight away.

Have your passports easily accessible and this way you will step on board a lot sooner rather than standing in the queue pulling your suitcase apart looking for those all important documents!

The Little Extras

This is a very handy tip I learnt after my first ever cruise.  It can sometimes take quite a while before your suitcase arrives at your stateroom.  This can mean you have no change of clothes or no swimwear if you want to be one of the first to take a dip in the pool.

I recommend packing a day’s worth of clothes and toiletries in your hand luggage so you are prepared for every situation.  Whilst other passengers are wandering around the ship in the clothes they traveled in you can be in your holiday wear relaxing by the pool cocktail in hand!

I hope this guide has been useful to you.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.

Until next time…Happy Cruising!
