There is no escape!

For those of you whose ‘better halves’ drive you crazy with their addiction to watching sport on TV, you’ll be extremely dismayed to know that you can no longer escape, it’s over for you.

Your summer holiday….the best way of getting away from it all. Relaxing, winding down and escaping from the endless hours in front of the TV while your other half subjects you to yet another sporting event for what can sometimes last for days on end right?

Wrong!

Football fans cruising with P&O Cruises and Cunard can watch live, round-the-clock satellite coverage of this summers football World Cup matches on big screens through the Sport 24 channel.

They will also be showing other major sporting events throughout the year, such as Wimbledon and the Ryder Cup in September.

If this news is enough to have you shaking with fear at the prospect, I’ve highlighted below some of the cruise options which afford the opportunity to visit live sporting events whilst you are on holiday!

Hurray I hear you cry…. like I said there is no escape!

Golf fans may be interested in a 10-night British Isles cruise with Celebrity Infinity, departing from Harwich on July 14. It docks in Liverpool on the nights of July 19 and 20, neatly coinciding with the culmination of The Open Championship at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club.

Cricket fans can enjoy a Thomson package combining a mainstream Caribbean cruise with a week’s stay in a hotel on Barbados over the time of the three T20 matches (March 9, 11 and 13).

F1 fans can enjoy a host of Mediterranean voyages in the late spring that take in the thrills and glamour of the Monaco Grand Prix (May 25, 2014), with the ships docking during the event in Monte Carlo’s swanky harbour. Silversea, Star Clippers, Azamara Club Cruises and Crystal Cruises offer itineraries incorporating the Monaco Grand Prix

Tennis fans, how about staying a few nights in New York and catching Andy Murray in action at Flushing Meadows during the US Open (August 25 to September 8, 2014), followed by a cruise from the Big Apple? Around that time of year, there are cruises from New York to Bermuda, the Caribbean, and New England/Canada with Royal Caribbean.

So there you have it, even on your cruise holiday you can no longer avoid football, tennis, cricket, golf and motor racing!

My advice is to resign yourself to the fact and just enjoy, resistance is futile!

Let me know if your one of those people who loves watching sport on holiday or one of those who believe TV sport has no place on holiday and in particularly on board cruise ships.

I’d love to hear what you think.
