The most amazing addition to airline travel has just been announced!! And I say amazing because it is aimed at the average holiday maker, not the rich and famous!!

I have been waiting for this for years and on every airline feedback comment form I fill out always says the following: I wish there were child zones and a creche on board planes! Finally someone has heard my comments!!

Thomson Airlines which introduced the dreamliner what must be a couple of years ago now are to introduce family pod seating around a table along with childrens entertainers on board certain aircraft. How excellent will this make air travel for those with and without children.

The main exciting brand new features will be:

Zoning – Passengers can choose a child free zone section of the aircraft.

Booths – Passengers can book 6 seats of family or friends around a table sectioned at the rear of the plane with room to spread out around the table to play games, eat, colour, draw etc.

Kids club – A fully trained kids club entertainer will keep the kids amused with quizzes, games and arts and crafts.

Duo seating – Pods for couples with table and more privacy.

Entertainment – New content and channels with bed time story for the little ones and new teenage channel.

Food and Drink – Expect a local flavour of where you are going, like Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Mexican Tacos – bedtime cookies and milk will even be served for the children.

Some of these features could come as early as next summer, but most will be rolled out by 2018. I can tell you, I will be one of the first to try this. Orlando and a Caribbean cruise seems good to me!! Thats my 2018 holiday planned!

I once flew 10 hours back from canada with my then 2 year old, she cried the whole flight home, the passengers behind I think were suicidal!! How great it will be to have dedicated sections and much more comfortable seating and entertainment.

I am so excited about these additions and thank you Thomson Airways for such fabulous additions. I only hope all airlines follow your example.
