Sunshine here we come

Sunshine here we come…..although not in the sense you may think

Its that time of the year again, Xmas is upon us, which can only mean one thing, Ski time 🙂

We are headed back to Banff this year and are counting down the days until Friday when we shall be skiing up on Sunshine Village once more in the Canadian Rockies.

Ski Big3 includes 3 areas around Banff, Sunshine Village, Mount Norquay and Lake Louise. Although Lake Louise is around 45mins away but still worth it for a days skiing since is included in the lift ticket and free shuttle buses run, although we will be hiring a pick up truck, so much easier to travel about with skis/boards in the back of the truck and certainly easier driving in the snow.

The views from Sunshine Village some 3000 FT above sea level are spectacular and you are well above the clouds, it really is one of the best places on earth.

Xmas day dinner is booked, passes for the hot springs booked, ice skating booked, Johnston Ice Canyon booked, it is certainly going to be a full on 10 days of activity in the cold and festive town of Banff. I am sure it cannot get colder than the -44 in Quebec last year, the coldest we have had in Banff on the past is -32 and not looking to make it a record, -1 will be fine. But with the weather even changing each year you never know what to expect. In Levi Lapland in the Arctic, snow has been a little light on the ground this year with snow only covering from 9 Dec, it is still a little light up on the ski slopes, you would think in the Arctic snow would be guaranteed so it is lucky we are not headed to Levi this year.
