Royal Ascot

I probably need not introduce Royal Ascot as this being once of the most prestigious race horse meetings in the world is as famous as it can be.

But this year was a little more momentous with Royal Ascot signing up in partnership with Cunard for the official Royal Ascot style guide.

Cunard is of course the obvious partnership with its luxury cruise liners, distinctive British flair and historical values.

Simon Palethorpe, Senior Vice-President at Cunard, added:

“Royal Ascot is one of the most glamorous events in the UK sporting calendar, and we are thrilled to be chosen as the official sponsor. Both Cunard and Ascot embody a unique sense of occasion, allowing everyone involved the opportunity to embrace and enjoy a truly unforgettable and stylish experience.”

No where in the world is there a more sense of occasion than at Royal Ascot. Usually the 2nd or 3rd week in June, the 5 day event sees the Queen arrive with her guests in the Royal Procession along with singing around the bandstand at the end of the day. There is not really anywhere else where you can get as close to the Queen than Royal Ascot. You will feel very patriotic.

I have been a few times on Ladies day and this year did not disappoint with the weather simply glorious.

But of course, what we all go for, and like Cunard, is the dress code which is very elegant, hats and fascinators for ladies, top hats for gentleman in the Royal Enclosure which is by appointment only, then the Queen Anne enclosure who founded the racetrack is similar to the Royal enclosure but gentleman need not wear top hats. There is also the more relaxed village enclosure.

I simply love to people watch with a Royal Blush cocktail looking at all the glorious outfits.

There were some fantastic races this year with Frankie Dettori winning the Gold Cup on ladies day with his 60th Royal Ascot for which he received commendation from the Queen. Although I had no winners myself, I will quite often pick a horse of Andrew Balding from Park House stables in Kingsclere where I grew up, but no luck for me this year, not from the Queens horse either. It is always enjoyable watching the Queens horse win for the Gold Cup – Her Majestys race.

But a thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all – cocktails, sun and beautiful outfits, and amazing horses.

Heres to next year 🙂
