Celebrity Eclipse rivals the big boys

Celebrity cruises could hold fire no longer with Britannia and Anthem of the Seas taking on a huge number of bookings for Southampton in recent weeks.

They have announced that Eclipse will remain in Southampton for the 2015 season. Not surprising really having just scooped 2 amazing awards. Cruise Critic awards 2014 saw them pick up best from the UK in the destinations category and best cabins in the large ship category.

Although I was a little surprised to see that the majority of sailings will be to Northern Europe. The Mediterranean sailings will not start until late August.

Of course Celebrity has no shortage of ships in the med such as The Equinox, Reflection and Constellation all sailing from European ports.

Eclipse is stunning herself at 122,000 tonnes carrying around 2500 thousand passengers in comparison to Britannia at 140,000 tonnes and carrying 1000 more passengers. Anthem on the other hand will carry 4100 passengers at 167,500 tonnes. Of course there is now the Royal Princess to contend with  in addition as 2015 will see her return to the home of her Godmother The Duchess of Cambridge.

But Eclipse whilst older has no shortage of innovations to maintain her status such as the new dining concept Qsine which will send you on a gastronomic adventure as you order via your ipad menu dishes such as Sushi lolipops and popcorn fish and chips. The Aquaspa has been enhanced, The Hot Glass Show or ilounge will keep you entertained or maybe the Martini Bar Crush. Cellar masters will keep the wine connoisseurs entertained with their certified sommeliers giving advice on the perfect wine pairing. This really is Modern Luxury.

The special event cruises are sure to be a success as the Equinox will be in Cannes on the 11 May 2015 for the film festival, They will also offer more overnight stays  in a number of different ports such as Venice, Copenhagen, Dubrovnik and Reykjavik to name but a few.
