Morfa Nefyn in all its glory!

What a great treat it was going to Wales for my birthday! I’m writing this blog on the way back from a couple of days in Morfa Nefyn on the north coast of the Llyn peninsula in Wales. The weather was at its best and we thoroughly enjoyed our family time, beach plays and walks around the peninsula. There are many attractions nearby with Pwell,i Portmadog, Abersoch just to name a few, all within short driving distance but if you are short of time  and you want to make the most of it you can just savour the beauty of Morfa Nefyn without having to drive anywhere. I recon Nefyn has the best walk, the circular walk starts from the car park at the bottom of the golf club. I have been many times and I love this walk. You start from the car park and descend your way down to the beach through some steep stepping stones. Along the walk you’ll come across large wide open beaches, picturesque houses and pub on the shore line, winding narrow lanes through the cliffs to the secluded beaches and the life boat bay leading to the viewing point for seals where you can sit and take a break before heading back through the path of the golf course. Here lives a small group of seals that can be seen by the coastline. Before having my son we used to spend hours at the viewing point with just a pair of binoculars relaxing and enjoying the peace and quiet before the walk back through the golf course. I’m not a golfer myself but my husband is and he confirms it’s very challenging. It’s ranked in the top 50 golf courses in The UK and is a must for any golfers visiting the area.

The first day we stationed at the beach by the pub Ty Coch inn, a 200 year old Inn made famous by the very recent award for the “Top ten beach bars in the world”, it lays in a picturesque small bay, with views across the Irish sea with a scatter of fishing boats and the Rivals mountains in the close proximity. We had a homemade pick nick, although you can buy food here but is very expensive, we got there quiet early and got a nice spot between the pub and the sea, it was quiet at first but after a short while people of all ages started to arrive, soon there were children playing in the sand, with fishing nets balls, people swimming, and happy dogs strolling in the sand. The atmosphere was terrific!
