Is Blohm and Voss fit for a Queen?

Only four years after its launch the Queen Elizabeth ship will be undergoing a multi-million  pound refit. The biggest news in my opinion is that she’s having the installation of a new filtration system for the exhaust gas from the ship’s engines which makes her environmentally friendly. She will also have much needed single staterooms, 9 in total on deck 2.  The carpets will be changed throughout and large flat-screen TVs – mostly 32” or above are being installed in all passenger staterooms. Some restaurants will see some improvements too. In the informal Lido restaurants we will see waiters serving hot drinks during meals, while recessed risers will improve the styling of the self service area as well as passenger flows within it. Significant work is planned for the shopping area on board where the footprint is increasing, new Fine Jewellery and Watch shops opening and the layout, lighting and overall shopping experience for passengers is being enhanced. Queen Elizabeth will leave the yard on Saturday 1 June and sail for Southampton, ahead of her 4 June cruise to Amsterdam so we haven’t got long to wait now. I am a Cunard fan and I cannot wait to see what she new refit is going to look like, watch this space to see some of the insight pictures!
