New Beginnings

After 12 years at my company I found out I was going to be made redundant, something non of us want in LIFE.  What was I going to do?  Would I get another job?  Everything went through my mind.  I was angry, upset, hurt and didn’t know how they could do this after 12 years of hard work and what left like my life at the same company.

I had to do a CV as I had not had one for over 12 years.  How would I do it, where do I start.  As you can imagine it was a very stressful time but I got through it with the support of friends and family.

The day came where I saw the perfect job advertised as a Specialists Cruise Consultant working from home.  I knew this was the job for me as I have a massive passion for Travel.  I sent my CV in and all I could do now was wait to see if I got an interview.  After a week I was offered an interview, I wanted this job SO much.  The interview went really well but there was one problem, I could have the job but I needed to start on the 2 September 2013 but was going on holiday in Turkey with my sister and my niece and the only other date I could start was 19 August 2013.  I was not meant to finish my notice period for my old firm until 23 August 2013, what was I going to do? Would my old company let me finish early? After speaking to my Manager she said I could finish early and felt this was GREAT and fantastic as now would leave my old job on the Saturday and drive down to start my training on the Sunday.  I now felt everything was now final and fitting into place.

The day had finally arrived it was Sunday 19 August 2013 and I was about to start a new chapter in my life and start my new Job working for cruise.co.uk.  I was excited but really nervous at the same time. Doing my training I met lots of lovely people who were in the same boat as me.

After my 4 days training I was heading home to pack for my holiday to Turkey.  I couldn’t wait it was just what I needed some relaxing time after the year I had had.  What was worrying me now, would I forget everything when I came back?, would I remember  how to use the systems? I’d only had 4 days training and then I was off for 7 days.

After a wonderful holiday finally Wednesday arrived and it was my first day on my own starting my new job.  As soon as I set my computer up I knew I would be ok, I had remembered the system, all I needed now was some customers.

I am still here now and in my second week and I am really enjoying my work as it was the best thing that could have ever happened to me.  I find my work very busy, as soon as I start the time goes by so quickly and before I know it my day is over.

Someone once told me things do happen for a reason and that is VERY true.
