October half term

Autumn break can go one way or the other. This time the weather has been perfect!

Cold but dry and even a little sunny on some days.

We started our week with at a Halloween party. Just a house party but they dressed the house so well and it was very spooky! A projector on the pool table with moving creepy crawlies and snakes! Blacked out walls and skeletons all over! It was fantastic.

We chilled out the next day and had a lovely walk in one of the villages in Saddleworth and enjoyed ice cream – I enjoyed a warm coffee!

The next day was Halloween so went with one of Ella’s friends to a crafty shop where they can paint pots. They both chose a unicorn pot to decorate and then the mess begins. Painting, glitter and glue later and lots and lots of fun we have the finished trophy!

Later we dressed for trick or treating – there was a gang of us so we chose the houses wisely!! Nothing worse than unwanted visitors. We looked for a sign that we would be welcome! A pumpkin in the window or some decorations in the garden. Some left treats outside the door.

We were super impressed with one house. They had made such an effort!

Everyone was so generous and I know it is celebrated more in the US but the kids really enjoyed it.

Later we enjoyed counting all the treats and had some delicious pumpkin pie!

We celebrated my dads birthday the next day – a lovely walk in the park followed by a meal in a local Italian restaurant.

The week ended with a bang on Saturday where we enjoyed a party for one of Ella’s friend and then Bonfire night at a local community center.

What a brilliant week!

All ready for Christmas now!

Have you been enjoying an autumn break?
