Are Royal Caribbean going to start charging for entertainment?

I was horrified when I heard that Royal Caribbean, were considering charging for entertainment on their ships.  Paying extra for the entertainment on board is surely a step too far. Am I wrong?

I love the fact that you can add extra’s on to your booking such as drinks packages, excursions and speciality dining, because it is a great way of budgeting before you go. So no nasty surprises!

But havening to paying for entertainment?

Royal Caribbean are famous for providing the very best in latest productions and innovation to their entertainment their guests, providing some of the best West end style shows including Cats, Mama Mia, hairspray and Chicago. In addition they have upgraded ships such as the Centrum to create dazzling entertainment similar to would you would see in Vegas.

However, Nick Weir, Royal Caribbean’s vice president of entertainment said that in the future charging could be a possibility. This raises some issues in my opinion.

How would they decide which entertainment was free and which be chargeable?

Would the charge put people off going to the show or even cruising with Royal Caribbean?

One of the latest jaw dropping spectacles is aboard the Quantum of the seas.  Two70, named because of the location at the back of the ship, 270 degree breath-taking views by day and high tech entertainment during the evening. High flying aerialists perform while you watch on! Amazing!

The technology also features robot video arms which project digital images and will also be available for live feeds from other venues around the globe remotely!

I hope they don’t spoil this by introducing charges. I think the regular customer’s would be put off and new cruisers are confused enough as it is with extra charges for different restaurants.

There is a famous business saying when it comes to providing great service and ensuring repeat bookings and enduring profitability………

“KISS”

Keep it simple stupid………..

So, taking all this into account, would this put you off cruising with Royal Caribbean?
