Back from 2 weeks in the Caribbean

I have just returned from 2 fantastic weeks in the Caribbean

I went with my husband and 2 children and some friends whose children are the same age as mine

I was a little concerned about the flight as I haven’t travelled long haul before with my children but they coped with it fine

We stayed at the Bahia Principe Punta Cana hotel .

The hotel and grounds were beautiful and the food was amazing ( I managed to put 10lb on so now I have to go on a diet again to try and lose it !! )

The only negative part was the staff in the hotel. Whenever I have been to the Caribbean before the local people have been so friendly and there has always been a fun and welcoming atmosphere but it was totally different here.

I would say 80% of the staff were unfriendly and rude and they weren’t any nicer to the kids which was a shame.

However it became a bit of a joke between us and we just laughed about it as I certainly wouldn’t let it spoil my holiday.

The kids had a great time aswell, there was a water park and mini golf and they really enjoyed the hotel entertainment.

My eldest daughter did say that the hotel kids club wasn’t that great so they didn’t go too often. It was typical Caribbean attitude there and half the time they didn’t do the activities planned because it was so laid back.

But then I did say to her that she should make the most of the pools and beach while she has the chance as plenty of time at home to do craft and painting.

Whilst we were there I fulfilled a lifetime dream and went swimming with dolphins.

It was such a brilliant experience and something we will never forget.

At first the girls were frightened and didn’t want to go in but we managed to persuade them and they loved it. Although they were too young to swim with them they could dance and even kiss the dolphin which they absolutely loved. We bought the DVD so they can show all their friends and family.

We also went on a boat trip to Saona Island which was stunning. We took a catamaran to the island and had a beach BBQ of steak and lobster then went on a speedboat to a natural swimming platform in the sea where we swam and held starfish. The only problem was I felt so ill on the catamaran, I have never been sea sick on a cruise ship but I didn’t manage the catamaran very well and would definitely need to take some kwells before I step foot on one again !!

I am back home now and feeling totally refreshed and now need to plan my next one although it’s as hot here in the UK at the moment as it is in the Caribbean !!
