Having a sneaky smoke might cost you a small fortune

It is no surprise really that smoking has become less accepted on cruise lines over time and there are less places than ever where smoking is permitted.

I would like to say that I was for many years a smoker myself and although I quit myself over 4 years ago now I do not have any problems with smokers at all, each to their own I say.

One thing I wanted to point out really to people is as well as cruise lines not only having strict rules about where smoking is accepted or not, you could also end up with a reasonably hefty fine if caught breaking the rules.

I have recently read a story about Carnival Cruise lines stating that they have just doubled the fine from $250 to $500 for breaking the rules on what they call their “Tobacco and Marijuana policy”. Not just this I have also ready that as well as the fine they reserve the right to kick you off the cruise completely.

I believe that other cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Disney have charges of $250 also for anyone caught smoking where they shouldn’t be so it seems that this is being taken very seriously.

I do understand that smoking as well as causing damage to health of others, a fire risk or bad smells is something that shouldn’t be taken lightly but then again a $500 fine is also quite drastic.

I am not here to join the argument of people for or against smoking but it certainly worth noting the financial risks involved for anyone who would consider breaking the rules.
