Another Year Older!

It’s that time of year again when I celebrate my birthday!  I’m not normally one for celebrating my birthday, a quiet meal with my wife, nothing extravagant.  Obviously last year, with it being my big 30 – I did some celebrating.  But this year shall just be a quiet one.  And looking at my photos – I haven’t changed – well maybe the hair!

So it got me thinking, do you celebrate every year by doing something mad and crazy or do you wait for the big birthdays to celebrate?  How do you celebrate?  Do you go on holiday, have a big party, or do you go on a cruise?  I know 2 years ago my wife turned 40 (sshhh) and we went to London for the night, then flew out to Gran Canaria for a week (as it also ties in with our wedding anniversary). In 2013, I was out in Benidorm for my birthday, albeit that wasn’t the reason we were out there.

So the age old question is, do cruise lines take note of your special requests?  Well yes, they do.  If you tell them you are celebrating a special occasion, whether it be a wedding anniversary, honeymoon or a birthday, they will always endeavour to accommodate this.  Plus did you know, if you wanted to add on a surprise for someone, say a birthday cake or bottle of wine this can all be done through your cruise personaliser – it is amazing how much can be done on this (not just passport and emergency contacts).  It is even possible to add little gifts for children such as teddy bears etc.

Have you ever celebrated onboard a cruise ship – did the cruise line do anything special like a cake or bottle of sparkling wine?  Would be interesting to see which cruise lines offer what for different ocassions.

With that in mind, the next time you hear from me, I shall be at the grand old age of 31!

Until next time.
