On-board the stunning Celebrity Eclipse

A couple of weeks ago I enjoyed a day on-board the Celebrity Eclipse.  Now this is my kind of ship.  I had done the training and seen the pictures but to go on-board and experience the Celebrity take on ‘modern luxury’ really is a must!  On embarking the ship, I was struck by how different it is from many of the more traditional cruise-lines.  Don’t let this put you off however as this is very tastefully done and the artwork and designs apparent around the ship I feel really add to the luxurious feel.

We walked around the different staterooms which had a great light and spacious feel.  If you stay in one of these you can visit the main restaurant in the evening which is spectacular.  I particularly liked the huge wine bottle tower which made for a stunning feature in the restaurant.   If you upgrade to an aqua class suite these are positioned close to the spa so you can make full use of the Persian Garden spa lounge which is free of charge for aqua class guests.  You also get use of the exclusive aqua-class restaurant ‘Blu’.  This is a more intimate restaurant and one of the major reasons clients who go aqua-class will never go back.   The real wow factor came when visiting the suites.  Some of these are extremely luxurious with jacuzzi baths on the balconies, private kitchens, eating and lounge areas and butler service included!  You can also get access to the exclusive suite class restaurant ‘Luminae’ which offers fine dining and the VIP lounge ‘Michaels Club’.

Amenities around the ship were very good.  Plentiful bars to visit (with my favourite being the Martini bar which had an ice-cold bar surface).  The décor around the pools was beautiful and there was a spacious indoor adults only pool for the days when weather isn’t so good.  Another area which provided the wow factor for me was the on-deck lawn area with real grass.  Great for extra sun bathing area or a picnic!  There are speciality restaurants which could be used at a supplement for an extra special meal including the Tuscan grille where I enjoyed a beautiful steak, Murano and Qsine.  There is entertainment to suit everyone on-board from low key music being played, to Broadway style shows and even a night club on-board meaning you can enjoy the cruise in exactly the way you want.  I know when my colleagues went on the ship recently a particular favourite of theirs was the silent disco which Celebrity are famous for.
