HRH Prince Bertie Mickey Dickie!

royal-baby-boy_2626317bDear William and Kate

Firstly, very many congratulations on the birth of your son, His Royal Highness Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge.

Without meaning to sound disrespectful, I would like to suggest a small improvement to the flow of these names.

George, we can understand. A traditional British monarch’s moniker. Her Majesty the Queen’s own father’s name and an obvious choice. George VI was affectionately known to his family as Bertie.

Louis is  William’s fourth name and a tribute to Lord Louis Mountbatten or Uncle Dickie to the Royal family so history in that selection.

Now we come to the new Prince’s second name Alexander. It’s not that I dislike this name and, as a mother myself, fully comprehend the difficulties and dilemmas involved in choosing how to address your offspring without offending close family by favouring one ancestor above another.

Just a suggestion, why not use Kate’s father’s name to even the balance? Michael is a good solid choice and actually flows very well, George Michael. It has a very familiar ring to it and to keep with tradition, can be shortened to Mickey. I’m sure Princess Diana would have approved of George Michael.

So, welcome to the world HRH Prince Bertie Mickey Dickie.

With very best wishes.
