Check before departing

I know what you are all thinking, why would I need to be told what to check for before I head off on my cruise, well surprisingly enough you would not believe what people forget to check before getting up early in the morning to head off on their dream cruise. Obviously I will not be mentioning any names, but it’s safe to say people really do forget the most basic of items.

Remember to check your passport has at least 6 months validity from the date you return back home, airlines and cruise lines are very strict about this and will not listen even if you are under by a couple of days.

Remember to check each of your destinations to see if you will need a visa, I have lost count how many times people have gone off on their cruise and not checked that they needed a visa !

Remember to manage your booking on line with your cruise line to make sure that the spelling of all cruisers is correct, airlines are very very fussy about this and may not let you travel even if there is a small mistake with the spelling.

Remember to check exactly what is included in your cruise price, many cruise lines now offer a couple of different fares which include and exclude many things that you may have received previously.

Remember to check which terminal your cruise is departing form, there are many different cruise terminals in certain cities.

Remember to update your travel insurance and if you have travel insurance in place make sure it is specific to the area of the world you are travelling to.

I am always very surprised when I get a phone call a couple of days before departure with any of the questions above.

I admit there are many things to check but if you do this straight after you make your cruise booking then you will not have any major issues that come to light just before your cruise.

Happy cruising 🙂
