Whats on the horizon??

We are now well into 2019, which means lots of exciting things from new destinations to looking after the environment, I have gathered together some predictions of my own of what could be taking off this year in the world of cruise.

1. COOLER CRUISES
Although some of us want to escape to warmer climes on our holiday, cruises in colder destinations such as the Baltic’s, Canada, Alaska, and Antarctica are set to become even more
popular. Whether you’re weaving your way through the fjords or watching some penguins, a cruise to somewhere cooler will be an experience to remember.

2. SAILING AND SAVING
There’s now more choice than ever when it comes to picking an affordable cruise, meaning everyone can enjoy the experience. Whether you’d like to save some pennies or simply sail for less time, a Mini Cruise or sailing from the UK can make for the perfect long weekend away without denting your bank balance.

3. OFF-THE-SHIP ADVENTURES
Long-gone are the days when cruising was thought of as confined; these days it’s known for being one of the best ways to get out there and experience the world. Tick some things
off your bucket list this year, from seeing the Northern Lights and whale-watching to soaking up some traditional Caribbean culture.

4. SUSTAINABILITY AT SEA
When you’re looking for your perfect cruise, environmental sustainability probably isn’t the first thing on your mind. However, it’s nice to know that cruise lines have recently been
making changes to protect our planet as much as possible, both on board and off board; like recycling and waste management.

5. SOCIAL MEDIA-WORTHY SAILINGS
Over the last couple of years, there’s been a huge increase in young people taking to the seas who love sharing their experiences. Going on a cruise is a must for social media addicts:
you can take dozens of stunning snaps, ‘check in’ at lots of brand new destinations and sample some traditional flavors.

6. FOR ALL THE FAMILY
It’s now more popular than ever for grandparents to take their grandchildren on a cruise. Family time has always been important, but there’s also plenty for kids to keep themselves
entertained with on board. With features like rock climbing walls and Royal Caribbean’s famous FlowRider surf simulator, they’ll never be short of things to do.

7. HEALTH IS WEALTH
The trend that ‘health is wealth’ has very much continued into 2019. Cruises now cater, more than ever, to travelers who are looking to indulge in some relaxation time. Today’s cruisers can participate in on board seminars, head to the spa, spend some time in the gym or choose from a healthier menu.

8. TRAVEL INTO THE FUTURE
There are set to be lots of advancements this year, in terms of on board technology. Several cruise lines are introducing wearable technology for cruise guests, from keyrings to
bracelets, which help with everything from making your way around the restaurant and buying excursions, to turning the lights on in your cabin.

Do you agree with my list, or do you have some to add?
