Overweight?

During a conversation with client this week we were discussing the checked luggage allowance on her flights, I mentioned that when choosing evening wear ladies have to take into account how heavy sequins are to which she replied ‘it’s not the sequins Darling it’s the diamonds!’

Unfortunately I don’t have any diamonds but I have learnt my lesson and always check online before I pack my case, I travelled with Ryan Air last year and like a typical travel agent I didn’t check the cabin bag size, I had just bought a lovely new pink crocodile carry on bag with wheels but when I went through to the departure gate it didn’t fit, I had the shame of taking out all of my magazines and chocolate and tried to stuff things in my pockets all to no avail and had to pay an extra £50 to take it as checked baggage!

Checked luggage weight and baggage restrictions and especially hand luggage size and weight vary with almost every airline and it is vital that you check this before departure

Some airlines such as BA will allow you to pre-purchase extra weight online, this can save you £££s at the airport, if your cases are too heavy you can pay up to £10 per kilo to check in

I worked with a girl who used to check passengers in at East Midlands airport, she told me that the staff make good bonuses from charging for over weight luggage

So save the humiliation and the spectacle of being the person in the queue with handfuls of knickers trying desperately to stuff them in other bags and buy a nifty set of luggage scales  before you leave the house!

Do you have any embarrassing stories – I would love to hear them!?
