Marella – The Cherry on the Cake of Cruising?

I always thought that Thomson were a holiday company selling cruises and wondered why Thomson / Tui had changed their brand to Marella

I now believe that Marella is a force to be reckoned with and has a big standing in the cruise market and the name change was to distance itself from package holidays and make its own unique brand in the cruise industry

I was chatting to a client who had just returned from the newly commissioned Marella Explorer and couldn’t speak highly enough of the holiday. She is a seasnoned cruiser and had concerns as she had previously cruised with P&O and Celebrity. Her daughter and partner had not cruised before and her grand daughter had special needs.

She need not have worried! She said this was the best cruise she had ever had and Marella had completely exceeded her expectations, her grand daughter was so looked after by the staff on board and even got to meet the pilot and sit in the flight deck of the plane!

OK so the older ships are 3* at best and do not have rock climbing walls and ice skating rinks BUT from the comments I hear from passengers – the overall package far from makes up for this!
