Is a Selfie a Meme?

If you are like me you have probably never heard of a Meme

     According to Wikipedia A meme is “an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to    person within a culture through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena.”

        So you may have seen the art of ‘Planking’  an activity consisting of lying face down — sometimes in an unusual or incongruous location.  Both hands must touch the sides of the body, this was an internet craze that stretched as far as cruise ships, aeroplanes and extremly random places

 
Next to go viral was Extreme Ironing,  at it’s height it was suggested that this craze might overtake rockclimbing as the number 1 sport onboard cruise ships

                      In 2013 the word ‘Selfie’ made it in to the English Dictionary and absolutely everyone has got in on the act from the Pope to Barack Obama

You would think this is a pretty harmless past time but in 2014 Selfie Olympics was launched (also known as ‘Trick Shot Selfie’), this photo fad involves taking a selfie while posing in a physically challenging manner or partaking in an unusual activity

   So why not rise to the challenge and take a Balcony Selfie and email it to me – no prizes but I would love to   see your best shots!
