Are Cruise Ships like Supermarkets?

On a recent Welcome Home call I was speaking to a lady that had just returned from a Cunard cruise

She was complaining that Cunard’s standards had slipped and was not the same quality as it was cruising 5 years ago

She said that the entertainment was second rate and the dining had gone downhill

She went on to say that cruising is really just like supermarkets …..

She said it will get to the point where every cruise line and every ship offers exactly the same experience and will become standard – the same but different – the same entertainment, the same dining etc but it the only main difference will be the quality and the price- just like Supermarkets

I suppose she has got a point – your shopping list would be the same if you shop at Aldi or Lidl, Asda or Sainsburys, Marks and Spencers or Waitrose, Harrods or Fortnums and Masons – the difference is the price tag and the quality

I can see where she is coming from, I guess Marella is comparable to Aldi, P&O to Sainsburys, Celebrity to Waitrose and Luxury lines like Oceania and Seabourn could be classed as Harrods with higher price tags

I am not sure where I fit in to this – I do my shopping online with Asda but my favourite cruise line is Celebrity so I am a confused cruise shopper!

What do you think of this theory and where do you fit in??!!
