My in laws have just returned from a 14 night Caribbean cruise on board Azura, I can’t help thinking P&o’s passenger dynamics have changed!
I wasn’t sure Azura would suit them as they enjoyed the small ship intimacy of Fred Olsen and as they are senior in years I wondered if Azura would be the right choice but they wanted a Caribbean cruise with the convenience of Birmingham flights
They came back last weekend and it seems they had a very different cruise from their previous Fred Olsen cruises
They said there were a large group of gypsies on board and they certainly made their presence known
My in-laws went to the Conservatory for afternoon tea, they went to sit at a table only to be warned off by one of the women in the group that she was ‘saving’the seats, the brave waiter tried to tell her that she couldn’t save the seats and she kicked off! my in-laws had already sat at another table and watched in horror as the woman took a spoon of clotted cream, licked it, decided she didn’t like it and put the spoon back in the cream for somebody else!
The other incident was regarding a Wedding party on board, apparently the bride had slept with the best man and there was a punch up the day before the wedding
They said there was a definite division of ‘upstairs downstairs’ – those that ate upstairs and had pizzas and burgers and those that ate downstairs in the Restaurants
Other than these minor incidents they had a great time, fantastic Dreamliner flights, easy transfers, they enjoyed the entertainment and returned with lovely suntans but I do think they will stick with Fred Olsen for their future cruises
Do you try different cruise lines or do you stick with the line you know and trust?
