I’m not saying I don’t Welcome the SMART Generation of cruising but as a child of the Seventies I love a bit of Retro especially Vintage cruise and travel posters
I love the understated slightly clichéd advertising style of mid century posters, they give a more glamorous view to cruising than the advertising today
Cruise lines have massive advertising budgets for campaigns that run on TV, online, via all Social Media platforms and blogs as well as direct marketing to past passenger members and prospective new cruisers all mind blowingly innovative in design and content with beautiful imagery and catchy tag lines but do these multi million pound campaigns sell cruises?
Ahead of the launch of its new vessel Britannia, P&O Cruises has released its latest advertising campaign, fronted by celebrity comedian Rob Brydon.
The multimillion-pound wave campaign forms part of the line’s plan to create a new brand identity as it seeks to set itself apart from other cruise line competitors.
OR…?
Carnival the world’s largest cruise company will be airing its 1st ever Super Bowl TV commercial in 2015 asking consumers to vote on their favourite cruise line, the Super Bowl TV commercial will be sourced from the company’s recently launched ”Worlds Leadgin Cruise Lines Marketing Challenge” that gives consumers across North America the chance to provide Carnival Corporation with input on its new advertising creative. This interactive ‘crowdsourcing’ contest lets consumers “join the company’s marketing team” and vote for their favourite creative concept with a chance to win a grand prize of a yearly cruise for life
What do you think? What sells the cruise to you? High Tech Ad design or a nice bit of Vintage nostalgia?
