1st Love xxx

Your 1st ever cruise is like your 1st Love – never forgotten!

My 1st cruise was Transatlantic on QE2 to New York in October 1999

I was so excited, I had been selling land holidays for a few years and had just started selling cruises, at the time I hadn’t even seen a ship so was over the moon to be cruising from Southampton to New York on QE2

I have such fond memories of the Sailaway party from Southampton and was delighted to be staying in a Princess Grill cabin

I tried yoga for the first time on board, loved the Bingo every evening, I loved sitting with a drink in the lounge watching the old american ladies dripping with jewellery as their young handsome companions pushed their wheelchairs

I marvelled at the evening wear at the Captains Cocktail Party – this was when Formal meant Formal and ladies wore full length evening dresses with Tiaras and Pearls!

The highlight of the cruise and something I will remember for ever was the inspirational talk by Terry Waite, although I was a bit young to remember his story in the news I can remember to this day his lecture about his days as a hostage

Princess Grill dining was amazing with dessert flambéed at the table side and white gloved waiters and silver service

Cruising in to New York at sunrise was beautiful, I remember being up on deck with a hot chocolate and a blanket at 5am as we sailed past the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty on one side and the Twin Towers and Manhattan skyline on the other side

We had a whistle stop tour of New York with a couple of hours shopping before our flight back to Heathrow

My 1st love was Nicky Scriggins but he emigrated to Australia when I was 5)
Do you remember yours?
