The River Cruise Crusade

I recently attend CLIA’ s River Cruise Crusade the event was held in the Hilton hotel Newcastle. I went with my colleague Trudy. We thought it would help gain an insight into many of the river cruise operators that we book. 

The first part of the evening entailed a trade fair where we visited stands, gathered brochures and heard all about the companies. They explained all about their company along with current campaigns they have on offer. This was a great opportunity for us as we are homeworkers and normally company reps will visit agents on the high street but unfortunately, they don’t make home visits. It was good to hear about the different brands and what their cruises included ie excursions tipping and drinks. 

There was then a buffet and drinks which was very nice. Followed by the panel this section entailed a panel of 3 representatives and Andy from CLIA fired questions at them. This again gave an insight into what river cruising is like and how it differs from ocean cruising this was very informative with a little fun. 

We then had a quiz and had to get into teams we teamed up with a lady from Tui and a gentleman from travelfox this consisted of questions about geography really and what you would see where and what certain river itineraries involved. Low and behold we won we obviously between us knew more than we gave ourselves credit for. Thanks to the operators who provided the prizes we went away with our arms full of goodies. 

The evening was a great success and we gained more knowledge about river cruising as they say knowledge is power.
