P&O announce more “Star Studded cruises”

So this week saw P&O announce more dates for their “Star Studded Cruises” – some departures fairly imminent and some for 2014. Cruises vary from having the Celebrity Chefs on board, to having Strictly Come Dancing , an opera Singer, Musical performers or has been’s from 1980’s trying to make a comeback as no-one remembers who they are anymore.

Is this because there is still lots of cabins to be filled and P&O need something to encourage people to book? Or is it they are trying to make their itineraries seem more interesting? Are they struggling to compete with the other Cruise lines from Southampton or is this the way they are trying to stand out and differentiate themselves?

Would one of these “star cruises” actually make you think “I must book that one as Katherine Jenkins will be on it?” – I know it wouldn’t for me but would be interested to hear if it does make people choose that specific cruise because its a “Star Cruise” – or if anyone has been on one before then I would love to hear about your experiences.
