Holidays are coming …. to Chichester tomorrow (20th December)

So we have all seen the adverts with the Coca Cola Truck driving through the towns and countryside with its bright multi-coloured lights on, and the tune singing Holidays are coming, holidays are coming, and for most of us when we first see this advert the countdown to Christmas begins  – well exciting news for my home town Chichester is the truck is coming to our city tomorrow (20th December) from 1pm – 9pm.

My city has been picked out by Coca Cola as a “kindness spot” – apparently some of the acts of kindness include giving £200 to a homeless man and cooking Christmas Dinner for neighbours when their ovens stopped working – what a kind bunch of people we are in Chichester. Am a little sceptical as these being the main reasons the truck is stopping in Chichester, as it appears to be working its way along the South Coast having been to Bournemouth and Southampton already, in Portsmouth today and then in Brighton the day after its been to Chichester.

I for one am excited to see the truck and think it will not only drive and increase footfall into my beautiful home town but also create some excitement and a buzz through the city.  There are many people who just seen the truck as one big marketing ploy by Coca Cola and that this has nothing to do with Christmas and shouldn’t be allowed. Some people have even opposed it for environment, humanitarian and health reasons.  In my eyes its a great big red truck which will be transformed into a snowy winter wonderland, carols being sung and elves serving Coca Cola. If you don’t like it then don’t go!! but then don’t moan that Chichester is a boring place to live and nothing happens, or that we got missed out last year by the truck as it went to Havant (7 miles down the road). And lastly on this subject if you don’t like Coca cola or think its bad for you – you don’t have to accept the free one do you?!

Has the truck been to your town and did you visit it? What are your views on the Coca Cola truck – is it just one big marketing ploy? or is it just a bit of harmless fun bringing some Christmas cheer?

This will probably be my last blog before Christmas so would like to wish all my customers, friends and family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thank you for your support this year and looking forward to book you on your next cruise in 2014
