Southampton welcomes 3 new ships in 2014

So with the anticipated arrival of the  NCL Getaway into Southampton in 2 days time (the 14th January) I thought now would be a great time to look at the 3 new ships for 2014 which will be sailing out of Southampton this year and look at what each ship has to offer.

NCL Getaway – Norwegian Cruise Line – Arriving 14th January 2014 and will be on 2 one night taster cruises before sailing on its maiden voyage on the 16th January to New York. The ship can hold 4,028 passengers and is 146,600 tonne ship and will be a sister ship to the NCL Breakaway.  Some of the features on board include Carlos Bake Shop, Illusionarium, Fireworks at Sea, The Grammy Experience,  Ice Bar, shows including Legally Blonde, Burn the floor and Wine Lovers the Musical. There is also an Aqua park, sports complex and casino. See my blog next week about this ship as I will be getting to experience this ship first hand on Wednesday.

Regal Princess – Princess Cruises :  Due to arrive in May 2014 this ship will be the sister to the Royal Princess and will hold 3,560 passengers and will be 141,oo0 tonnes. This ship will have a water and light show on their largest pool deck, an enhanced Movies under the stars screen, and will also feature the seawalk which will have views 128 feet down below your feet. There is also balconies on all outside staterooms, and for a more intimate dining experience at the Chef’s Lumiere table.

Quantum of the Seas – Royal Caribbean: Will be departing from Southampton on its maiden voyage on the 2nd November 2014 and will be 167,800 gross tonnes and will carry 4,905 passengers.  Some of the features of Quantum will include the North Star – where you extend up to 300ft in the air, the Ripcord sky diving simulator, bumper cars,  and virtual balcony cabins.

So with these 3 new ships coming into Southampton in 2014 and 2 more new ships planned for the 2015 (Anthem of the Seas and Britannia) cruising looks to become even more exciting, and also more difficult to choose which ship/cruise line to sail with.

Have you booked to go on any of these ships and if so which one and where are you going? What are your thoughts on all these new innovative features?

if you would like any further information on these or any other ship then please do not hesitate to contact me.
