A taste of luxury…

I am absolutely delighted to have been selected to experience seven nights aboard Cunard’s Queen Victoria next month. Cunard’s Queens are synonymous with timeless elegance & a taste of luxury, and it has been a dream of mine to enjoy afternoon tea aboard since I was a little girl… so at the end of June, instead of dressing up in my mother’s heels to pour tea for my cousin and our dolls, I shall actually be sipping tea in the Queen’s Room aboard Queen Victoria.

As a bit of a foodie, I am particularly looking forward to sampling the delights of the menu aboard and will undoubtedly be fully immersing myself in the ‘Cunard Culinary experience’ in the main dining room, as well as enjoying a signature experience in The Steakhouse at the Verandah.

… and as a bit of a musical theatre geek and a lover of cabaret & big productions, I am excited to be able to visit the Royal Court Theatre on board,  a venue which exudes character & charm and where the entertainment promises to be impressive.

Of course like most ‘little princesses’, as a child I used to enjoy dressing-up in flowing gowns laced with sequins & bows, and the opportunity to wear evening gowns for the gala events and signature black & white ball on board is another childhood dream come true. My daughter, Kayla aged 10, is delighted to be helping me choose dresses fit for the occasion; on a promise that we shall book a short trip aboard Queen Mary 2 / Queen Elizabeth in the next couple of years, and she too will need a wardrobe fit for her princess-dream-cruise.

However this time, I shall be making the most of being able to relax and enjoy the spa facilities, and am already looking at the various options available on board to ensure I feel pampered and rejuvenated.

Aside from the delights of the ship itself, another special part of this trip for me is the opportunity to visit Guernsey; my island-home, where the cobbles of St Peter Port are sure to evoke nostalgia for the years I lived on the Island…

…and where I plan to spend my shore-day visiting my Grandmother; a wonderful lady who has always been an inspiration to me throughout my life, someone I hugely admire and am so very proud to call ‘Nan’. My late-grandfather, ‘Papa’, always told me that he chose the most beautiful girl on the island to be our grandmother, and she truly is beautiful inside and out. I am so very much looking forward to spending time with my Nan as part of my upcoming trip.

As always, I shall keep you all updated with my adventures via my blog and my Facebook page; Katrina And The Waves ?

Love
