Independence of the Seas pulled from Southampton for 2020

I was shocked to see this new mid week last week! Independence is a firm favourite with the Brits and familes in particular.

The ship will now sail from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, rather than Southampton as originally planned.

The decision has been made in order to respond to the high interest in the line’s new Caribbean private destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas is unlike any island you’ve ever been to. That’s because it’s a private island exclusively for Royal Caribbean guests — and expressly designed to redefine what you can do in a day. The attractions and experiences at Perfect Day at CocoCay are set to open in phases, with plans to have everything open for December 2019. But you can start earning your bragging rights and enjoying features like Thrill Waterpark℠, the Zip Line, Splashaway Bay aqua park, Up, Up and Away helium balloon, Oasis Lagoon freshwater pool and more.

Most of the experiences at Perfect Day at CocoCay are complimentary, and there are plenty of free beach chairs and beachside activities — not to mention five new complimentary dining venues located throughout the island. Other attractions, like Thrill Waterpark℠, the Zip Line, and Up, Up and Away helium balloon, are available for a charge.

Royal Caribbean are offering full refunds and a ‘Future Cruise Credit’ for use on an alternative sailing with the line which is valued at 25% of the cruise fare paid on the cancelled sailings.

Independence of the Seas emerged from a multi-million pound makeover in May 2018 which revealed a bigger and better Splashaway Bay, all new Panoramic staterooms with floor to ceiling windows and a Royal favourite: Izumi Asian & Sushi Restaurant.

This now leaves just Anthem of the Seas from Southampton in 2020, she wont disappoint and has some great itinearies planned from May to October in 2020.
