New to Cruising, This will help …

Are you new to cruising???? Well it seems I have had a few weeks now of those very customers and I love it. I thought it might help if I gave you a few tips before you call.

suitcases at airport

Things to have an idea about helps!

Flight or no Fly which best suits you, there are several options here, There are more and more cruises going from the UK, and not just Southampton. (Bristol, Liverpool, Newcastle and Dover are all ports that have cruise ships leave from them. If you are flying , The nearest airport might not always be the best or possible option. Please remember are you prepared to do an indirect flight, so you can go from your local airport or is it more important to be Direct, Also think will I get there in time for the cruise to sail. Unless booking flights in with the cruise say from a Royal Caribbean, NCL , P&O or MSC , they wont wait for you if your flight is late. This is the reason you will see so many packages on our site (best to arrive in the port the day before).

Second I think destination  is always important for a first cruise it has to go somewhere YOU want to see, and from a personal view point, somewhere maybe you have never been. If it sails out of Venice for instance and you are wanting to see Venice then maybe find a cruise that includes Venice or try a package otherwise all you will do is wave to it as you leave and arrive back.

There are so many different choices now, but start small, Mediterranean (beautiful historic places Rome, Athens Etc..,  greek Islands for the beaches or Fjords (Scenic). Stay away from Mini cruises of less than 5 days as these do not give you a true representation of what cruising is all about. Which ever you choose make sure it has everything you want. Possibly a day at least at sea to just chill and wind down from the stresses of home life or work.

Cost , always have a budget in mind, this will help when sorting best cruise for you and tell us so we now were to look to suit your budget.

There are so many cruises out there, the thing we as cruise specialists fear most is …. ” A cruise , anywhere , anytime , not sure how many nights , cabin type not an issue…..” Now you would think wow lots of choice but that is the issue. TO MUCH CHOICE. If you don’t know where to start, research, research , and then research some more. Our website has lots of info on it about the ships etc and the different itineraries. I often get asked for med cruises to Greece (but none fly) it takes at least 3 days to get into the med, so a 7 night cruise without flying not an option !! These are the sorts of things the need to be addressed before you decide to check out a cruise…  Our site click here !

This is what we want you to do when on your dream Cruise !

When you have your destinations , flights (or Not) then its time to think about the sort of ship you want, Formal, informal, multi cultural or more British, small and friendly, large with loads to do.

And then lastly cabin types! What do you think , this one is personal choice having tried nearly all types (except suites and above, I wish !) I don’t really have a personal choice. I think it depends on the itinerary to start with, If visiting a particularity scenic place the balcony or sea view is always lovely. But to be honest you normally spend very little time in your cabin. because of this and, as with many things it comes down to cost an inside cabin , will work just as well.
