First ever river cruise wow what a time !!!

Hi Boys and Girls, I have just literally come home from a fabulous time on board Amadeus Silver 2. I was privileged to stay for 1 night on board with my colleagues to check out what its like to do a river cruise.

the ship

I have to admit I had very little knowledge of this sort of cruising, but having seen our wonderful Jane McDonald, I was itching to go. So we flew into Amsterdam at the crack of dawn on Sunday just gone and then boarded around 10am. My usual cabin buddy did not make this trip , instead I got to share with the wonderful Seda.rsz_me_and_seda The first thing I noticed was how stunning the decor was. She is fresh and clean and very much Boutique in style. The cabins are really spacious and the bathroom was like home from home. Wonderful toiletries , replenished when every you need. There is even a walk in closet on the French balcony and suites cabins. The window in the french balcony comes down to half way to give you stunning view, I think I preferred this to the suite which has a balcony and sofa area and slightly larger cabin and bathroom.

lead in cabin

I think what really shocked me was the lead in cabins on the lower deck. They have a window so natural light can get in and although the bathroom and cabin were slightly smaller I would be happy to have one of these for a week or two. mini bar

There is a mini bar if you fancy a drink while getting ready , the prices were really reasonable too. I didn’t realise the drinks with lunch and dinner are included in the price, and when I checked the bar prices for the all important cocktails I was pleasantly surprised at the prices (average 6 euro.)

cocktail

That’s my smug face lol x The cocktails were lovely too. We did at least wait until 12 midday to try one or two. They serve afternoon tea with beautiful cakes and canopies. Coffee and tea available in the lounge most of the day. cocktails for the girls

There are really 4 decks on the ship and the ship is 135 meters long. deck one is the lead in cabins and hairdressers, gym massage room. Deck 2 is where you board the ship, so reception, dining room at the front of the ship and french balcony cabins to the middle and rear of the ship, also has a lovely quiet area at the back, with card games and small library. Here there is always cookies and tea and coffee available and a bar area. Deck 3 is the lounge towards the front and then an open area right at the front, were there are lounge chairs and blankets if needed and you can smoke in this area too. Towards the middle and the rear are the suite cabins 6 on each side and then more french balcony towards the rear. Deck 4 is the sun deck with shade if needed and lots of open space, chess, shuffle board and sun loungers too.
