QUIET THIS WEEK

Crikey its been quiet this week in our house, my  youngest little munchkin has gone on his holidays.

He went at the weekend to a sunny island called Tenerife along with his girl friend and some friends. Its their first holiday going away as a “couple” so who knows what to expect?

I can imagine all sorts fallings out, loosing all his money. losing his hotel key or getting chucked out of it even, not to mention tatoo’s you name it Ive worried about it.

Mount Teide.

Is a volcano on Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Its 3.718- metre (12.198 feet high).

The summit is the highest point in Spain. The highest point above sea level in the Islands of the Atlantic.

The largest of the seven Canary Islands, Tenerife sits in the Atlantic Ocean just off the coast of North Africa and enjoys eternal sunshine – one of the reasons that makes this beautiful island such a hotspot for millions of tourists every year.

n March 1936 Francisco Franco was posted to the island by a Republican government wary of his growing influence and power. He agreed to collaborate in the military coup that led to the Spanish Civil War when the Canary Islands fell to the Nationals in 1936. Consequently many people moved away from Tenerife eager to escape from the new regime. Today Tenerife’s population is around 900,000 and around five million tourists visit the island every year.

Every May 3rd in the village of Los Realejos two streets compete for the best firework display. Manufacture and the display ends up lasting over 3 hours and will burn 6000 kilos of explosive.
