Bruges

I wanted to let you know about our journey on Oceana on the party cruise and my vistit to Bruges which started on Thursday 20th December 2012.

I have been on the ship before a couple of years ago but had forgotten how lovely she was my first thought when I boarded her was    WOW !!

The atrium  is gorgeous anyway but on the mini cruise it looked absolutley stunning all decorated up with trimmings and the tree was spectacular.

OUR INSIDE CABIN BEFORE IT LOOKED LIKE A BOMB SITE

Oceana is a lovely ship she holds just over 2.000 people and although the sailing was completley full, it never felt overcrowded.

My first night I dined  in the Main Restaurant the Ligurian  and enjoyed a 5 course meal

PRAWN COCKTAIL

SOUP OF THE DAY

SERLOIN STEAK WITH ALL THE TRIMMINGS.

FRUIT

CHEESE BOARD

(THERE GOES ANOTHE DIET OUT OF THE WINDOW)

My second night I ate at   the Cafe Jardin – Marco Pierre White Bistro

Is noted for his contributions to comtemporary international cuisine.

Born in December 1961

TV Shows; Kitchen Burnout, The Chopping Block.

STARTING OFF WITH GARLIC PRAWNS

FOLLOWED BY MEAT BALLS

FINISHING WITH LEMON TART

Again this meal was sumptous and enjoyable.

I wanted to go to Bruges with my colleagues because it is such as beautiful city but at christmas time it is even more so. I loved the chocolate shops so many of them it is unbelievable and inside the smell is to die for.

BLANKENBERG RAIL STATION.

We got the free coach transfer from the ship in Zebrugge to Blankenberg train station, the trains run from Blankenberg every hour at 11 minutes past the hour and they run into Bruges it takes about 20-25 minutes and will cost euro 2.90 each way.

Once into bruges the city centre is a 10 minutes walk away but very easy to find.

Bruges is the capital and the largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium. It is located in the northwest of the county. The historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO.

Ive been to Bruges about 4-5 times now so i know it really well, if you find you are on a sailing calling into the city please let me know i can give you some tips and ideas.
