French Air Traffic Control Strike Again !!!

Is It just me or does anyone else feel that French air traffic control is constantly striking and causing havoc to peoples holiday plans ??

Hundreds of flights are set to be canceled or delayed due to the first French air-traffic control strike of the summer. Ryanair, EasyJet, and British Airways have all been forced to cancel tens of flights with many more delayed.

Controllers and engineers working for DSNA, the national air-navigation provider, will stop work from 7 pm local time on Wednesday 8 May until 6 am on Friday. This is part of a wider national protest by public servants against President Emmanuel Macron’s plans to reform working conditions.

British Airways has canceled a total of 36 flights, including six flights to and from Paris, four between Heathrow and Nice, and single round-trips from Heathrow to Lyon and Marseille.

This morning I had a phone call from one of my customers due to cruise from Monte Carol tomorrow, my heart sank when he told me that his flight may be canceled! Luckily we had booked the flights with the cruise line and they have managed to rebook the customer onto another flight to another port on Saturday morning one the strikes have finished. Its a shame as these customers are now missing 2 days of their cruise and now need to fly economy instead of business class. There are going to be so many people affected by this. I’ve always been lucky and never had my holiday plans spoiled by strikes or even volcanos erupting! What a horrible feeling it must be working hard all year and finally when its time to take a break away with your loved ones it all goes wrong.

If you are due to travel in the next few days please check your flight status with the relevant airline!
