Barcelona Here We Come…….

So today I and 19 other girls are jetting off to Barcelona for 3 nights to celebrate my friend’s hen weekend, I am really looking forward to seeing what the Bridesmaids have in store for us all and especially for the Hen. Now, of course, Barcelona is not just a city where you can party the night away but a city of amazing sights and Spanish culture. We have a full date on Sunday before our flight home so I am planning to try and to do some sightseeing. Barcelona is one of Europes most popular cruise ports and If you choose a cruise which embarks or visits this beautiful city then here are the cities top 3 must-sees.

Sagrada Familia – The Basilica of the Sagrada Familia is a monumental church devoted to the Holy Family. Construction began in 1882, based on plans drawn up by the architect Francisco de Paula del Villar, and Antoni Gaudi was commissioned to continue the project in 1883. The church has been built only from donations. As Gaudi said: “The Expiatory Church of the Sagrada Familia is made by the people and is mirrored in them. It is a work that is in the hands of God and the will of the people.” I am really looking forward to seeing this beautiful church.  Tickets start from 15 Euros per person depending on which experience you choose.

Park Guell – Another masterpiece of architect Antoni Gaudi. This is a public park and it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984, This playful urban park features peaceful greens, winding paths and many sculptures and mosaics designed by Gaudi himself.  Park Guell isn’t right in the heart of the city(Las Ramblas) so I recommend you book this as an excursion with transportation included or plan ahead on how to get there on your own via public transport. Tickets start from 7 Euros depending on which experience you choose.

Las Ramblas – Barcelona’s tourist hotspot which is 1.2km long. Whether you want to treat yourself when shopping in the many stores and boutiques, Sit down for lunch and a few drinks or check out the human statues you will find something for everyone here. There are dozens of restaurants and shops along the full length of Las Ramblas. However due to the popularity of Las Ramblas, and the sheer volume of visitors, you will find elevated prices so make sure you bring plenty of spending money.

Now its time for me to go and have some fun, I haven’t been away on a girls weekend for years !!!
