TUI River Cruises for 2020 – on sale from 25 April 2019

So TUI are now doing River Cruises for the 2020 market. They are extremely successful on the package holiday scene and utilising their aircraft to fly from local airports and most recently since the mid 1990’s (apart from a short spell in the 70’s) they have operated Ocean – going cruise ships which changed name to become Marella Cruises in late 2017.

Having cruised on one of their River Cruise Ships on the Nile in Egypt about 3 years ago which was done exceedingly well and great value for money – I am happy to have another ‘go to’ option for my River Cruise clients!

They will have lead-in prices of £999 per person for seven night itineraries both on the Rhine and the Danube and are all adult-only across three ships of 155 passenger capacity each.  The cruises are on a full board plus basis and so will include soft drinks, beer, wine and tea and coffee.  You can add a premium drinks package if desired for an extra £100 per person per week which will include branded spirits, draught beers, cocktails and speciality coffees. Every guest will also receive a  £120 credit towards shore excursions, bike tours or cookery lessons. Also included is 1GB of WIFI per cabin per week as well as all tips and gratuities.

TUI are also looking to use flights from local airports with a 20kg suitcase allowance each and they will include transfers to and from the ships.

Between 75 and 80 cabins will be available  – ranging from standard, superior and suite class – on all three vessels. The ships will also have single cabins.  Suites will have a private balcony. There will be tea and coffee making facilities in each cabin and Sterling prices will be used on board.  As with their ocean-going ships – you will be able to prebook specific cabin numbers for £48 per week.

The vessels will be refurbished this coming Winter to include adding a second bar that will serve coffee by day and cocktails by night. Other facilities will include three restaurants: a main dining room, a lighter dining area and an al fresco barbeque restaurant. They will also have an outdoor area where passengers can relax during the day which will transform into an evening venue which will offer light entertainment.
