The Global takeover Royal & Norwegian Merger

The Global takeover Royal & Norwegian Merger.

I’m not talking about two of the largest cruise-lines in the world merging in the true sense of the word but today I was feeling so proud of the cruise industry to learn of NCL & RCI’s joint collaborations in the effort to sail again safely amid the global takeover of Covid 19.

In a unique joined forces statement both NCL and RCI have said in usual circumstances they compete for cruise passengers among their fleet but there can be no competition afforded when you are talking about the lives and well being of cruise personnel and passengers.

The cruise industry has undoubtedly been hit hard during this global pandemic but I feel immensely proud that 2 of the worlds most forward thinking cruise-lines are joining
Forces in an effort to sail safely again in the near future.

This is like Pepsi and coca-cola working together to create a healthier pop drink. In normal times this couldn’t happen but these arn’t normal times.

What are RCI and NCL’s common goals?

Experts from both cruise-lines are now working together to create a new standard of hygiene and safety methods. The aim is to instill customer confidence when ships return to sailing.

In the next 8 weeks The “Healthy sail panel will put out its initial recommendations which once published can be used by a number of industries who deem the advice relevant to their operations.

Royal Caribbean chairman said…
“This unprecedented disease requires us to develop unprecedented standards in health and safety,” said Richard D. Fain, chairman and CEO, Royal Caribbean Group.
“Bringing aboard these respected experts to guide us forward demonstrates our commitment to protecting our guests, our crews and the communities we visit.”

In a very recent statement Frank Del Rio president and CEO of Norweigian cruise line Holdings Ltd said…

“We compete for the vacationing consumer’s business every day, but we never compete on health and safety standards,”

Some Experts are predicting sailing with around 60% maximum capacity, no self service buffets open, some social distancing measures.

More days at sea, a new standard of cleaning, perhaps crew members sleeping in inside cabins.

One thing is certain loyal cruise fans are still backing their favorites and are still booking a huge number of cruises.

This has been a really busy time for us taking bookings for 2021 & 2022.

I am so thrilled to see that two of the worlds finest and most experienced cruise lines globally working collectively for the common good.

I would love to hear your thoughts.

How will cruising be different after Covid 19 and dare I say it; Can there be some benefits from these changes.

For me personally 60% capacity on a beautiful large ship sounds like an incredible holiday experience to me.
