What do you do in yours?

Is the question I ask when customers are unsure which type of cabin to go for. It’s a big decision for people to make. Do you blow your whole budget on the very best cabin money can buy? Or do you go for the cheapest option and spend the rest of your money on excursions, spa treatments or maybe add on a drinks package? This decision can be even more important if you have never experienced a cruise before and don’t know what to expect.

In the travel industry you have to excuse us if we use jargon to describe things and sometimes we presume that everybody knows what we are talking about. Whether that be an Inside Cabin, Outside Cabin, Aqua-Class Balcony or a Central Park View Room. I and many seasoned cruisers might know what I mean, but to people new to cruise this can straight away make them feel uncomfortable. I try and establish what a customer likes to do on their normal holiday. Do they spend much time in their room? Do they normally upgrade their room to have a nice view, a balcony or maybe a suite so they have a larger area to live in for the duration of their stay?

Now I know you’d struggle to find a room with no window in most hotels in the world (there are some at the Brittannia Sacha’s hotel in my home city of Manchester that have basement rooms with no windows!) but for people who are out all day and prefer to have their room as a base and somewhere to rest their head of an evening, this is perfect. Myself , I like to have some natural light in my room so an Outside cabin (or Ocean View cabin) is an absolute minimum. Nothing better than waking up in the morning and opening the curtains to bright sunshine and new scenery. Well I say nothing better….what about opening those curtains, then those doors and stepping out onto your balcony to take in that sea air, scenery and enjoy your breakfast on your balcony?

The choices of cabins available throughout the many different cruise ships in the world are enormous. Too many to list! Some even come with a huge slide to use instead of stairs!

What is the most important thing you need to have or like to have in your cabin? Which is the best cabin you have had on a cruise ship? Share away and also add any hints or tips that may help other people find their perfect cabin.
